DENVER, CO – While in St Louis we had the chance to visit Hopeville, a community of folks living in tents and without government intervention – for the most part. Reality was kind enough to show us around the community that has a communal fire pit, kitchen and several grills for cooking.
People who come to Hopeville stake out a piece of property and interact with those around them voluntarily. There are no rules or constitutions to abide though there is a social norm that is understood by most. They live without official rules but do have a Mayor and security force to handle issues. Though these appointments aren’t paid and are commonly held by women, which isn’t the case for the government we all know, they are still effective in handling problems.
